The Lodge Committee will allocate a Winter House Manager (WHM) during the peak winter season. If required during Shoulder and Low seasons, a House Captain will be assigned or the Senior Lodge member in attendance will take on this role.
Should you have any queries on arrival – please ask the Winter House Manager or Summer House Captain if available, or one of Gunuma’s friendly members.
Bookings take effect from 4.00pm on the day of the booking. Members or guests have no entitlement to occupy a room before that time unless it is already vacated. Gear may, however, be placed in the temporary store (or if insufficient room, neatly placed in the dining/lounge area) prior to 4.00pm on the day the booking commences.
Room Allocation
Rooms are allocated when booking on the online booking system and the room allocations provided to the Winter House Manager/House Captain prior to your arrival. Please do not move into other vacant rooms as it causes confusion and inconveniences the incoming guests who have been assigned that room. If there is an issue with your room please discuss it with the House Captain/WHM.
Unpacking
In winter, the Lodge front door is the preferred route of entry using the access code provided on your booking confirmation. However, if using the back door from a Gunuma car park or for convenience, please choose a less busy time and endeavour to cause as little disturbance as possible to incumbent guests.
You may unload your car via the dining area door at the rear of the Lodge bearing in mind that temporary parking on Snow Gum Place (formerly Willow Road) may attract a hefty fine. So as not to interfere with other guests you are asked to store items in the luggage store as soon as possible (or if insufficient room, neatly placed in the dining/lounge area).
Accommodation register / Sign in
It is a condition of our lease with the NPWS that an Accommodation Register is maintained. This is located in the dining area. Please include relevant details of all your group in the register after you have moved into your room. Ensure the names of each occupant, including all children, are included.
If a Winter House Manager (WHM) is in residence, please introduce yourself as soon as practical. Present your booking confirmation, and if there are mismatch/variations in the booking, consult the GAO as soon as practical.
If the whiteboard shows that your room is vacant write down your party’s details and move in, otherwise you will need to wait until the changeover time of 4 pm. Luggage can be stowed in the luggage room across the corridor from the drying room in the front entry foyer (or if insufficient room, neatly placed in the dining/lounge area) while you wait.
Room Heaters
The heaters in the bedrooms are thermostatically controlled. Turn the heater to the low setting and adjust the thermostat on the wall as required. Do not place clothes over the heater to dry as it may cause a fire. Before departure, to prevent pipes freezing, set the thermostat to 10 Celsius.
Gunuma Winter Car Parking
There are 6 car parking spots available at Gunuma including one disabled park. Car parks must be booked online prior to arrival (the same as your room).
Upon arrival you need to Collect the numbered parking tag that corresponds to the Gunuma parking bay that you have booked from the House Captain/Winter House Manager (WHM) and display it on the front dashboard.
It is a condition of use of these car parks that you park rear to the kerb and chains are fitted to two-wheel drive vehicles at all times.
You may unload your car via the dining area door at the rear of the Lodge bearing in mind that temporary parking on Snow Gum Place (formerly Willow Road) may attract a hefty fine. So as not to interfere with other guests you are asked to remove items from the dining area as soon as unloading is complete.
It is important that upon departure you return the Pass to the Lodge for further use.
During the Winter Season*, vehicles are not allowed to remain in the public carpark overnight. If you have not booked one of the Gunuma parking bays, options include the Smiggins Hotel and other Lodges (check the board for numbers). Other alternatives are Sawpit Creek requiring a lift, or Bullocks Flat and Ski Tube plus shuttle bus return (check operating times first).
Details of alternative parking are included on the general notice board in the dining area.
Illegal parking attracts a hefty fine.
*High Season is defined in the annual Gunuma Booking Rules (effective 1 March to 28 Feb). National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) defines the Winter Season as the period between, and inclusive of, the June and October long weekends.
